ICTC ACCESSIBILITY & PARTICIPATION POLICY
Our Commitment to Inclusive Participation
Inner Child Theater Camp (ICTC) is committed to creating a welcoming, creative, and supportive environment where adults from many backgrounds, identities, and abilities can participate meaningfully in theater-based experiences.
ICTC programs are facilitated in a collaborative, ensemble-based group format. Participation supports are explored within this shared creative structure, and accommodations are considered on an individual basis through a collaborative planning process.
We believe creativity belongs to everyone. When possible, ICTC strives to make reasonable adjustments that support participation while preserving the integrity, safety, and collaborative nature of our programs.
What ICTC Strives to Provide
ICTC offers creative arts programming designed to encourage self-expression, play, and connection through guided group activities such as musical direction, choreography, improv, and ensemble rehearsal.
Because all facilitation occurs in a group setting, supports are designed to help participants engage within the shared experience rather than through individualized instruction or supervision.
ICTC may be able to support participation through:
- Flexible communication approaches
- Visual or written rehearsal guidance
- Sensory-aware space adjustments when feasible
- Alternative participation pacing or rest breaks
- Inclusion of a personal support person provided by participant, when appropriate (see additional information below)
Selecting or requesting support does not guarantee that ICTC can provide or implement a specific accommodation. All requests are reviewed collaboratively based on program structure, staffing, venue limitations, and safety considerations.
Program Scope & Boundaries
ICTC is a creative arts program and is not a clinical, therapeutic, or behavioral treatment service.
Please feel free to review our Camp FAQs here for a sense of the group camp experience.
Our staff are group creative facilitators — not medical or mental health providers — and ICTC does not offer individualized facilitation outside the shared camp environment.
ICTC is not equipped to provide:
- One-to-one behavioral supervision
- Medical care or therapeutic services
- Crisis intervention or specialized clinical support
- Personal aides or individualized behavioral management
These boundaries help maintain a safe and sustainable environment for all participants.
Requesting Participation Support
If you have physical, sensory, communication, or other accessibility needs, we invite you to complete our Participation Support Intake Form prior to camp. The purpose of this form is to help us understand functional participation needs — not to require disclosure of diagnoses or personal medical history.
After reviewing your request, ICTC may schedule a brief conversation to explore what participation supports may be possible within the structure of the program. Submitting a request or completing the intake form does not guarantee enrollment or approval of specific accommodations.
How Decisions Are Made
When reviewing participation support requests, ICTC considers:
- Participant safety
- Staffing capacity
- Venue limitations
- The collaborative, group-facilitated structure of ICTC programming
- Whether requested adjustments preserve the nature of the shared creative experience
ICTC aims to find solutions that support access while maintaining the integrity of the camp environment. In some situations, requested modifications may not be feasible if they would fundamentally alter the program or exceed available resources.
Support Persons
Most ICTC campers participate independently; however, participants may attend with a personal support person when necessary for accessibility. Support persons must be arranged and provided by the participant. ICTC does not supply aides, companions, or individualized supervision. Support persons remain responsible for medical, behavioral, or personal care needs and participate as quiet supports. They do not take on facilitation or instructional roles within the group.
Our Philosophy
ICTC values compassion, curiosity, and collaboration. We encourage open communication and believe thoughtful planning helps create the most supportive and sustainable experience for everyone involved.
